Some time ago, I made a pen name. But my real name is Pamela Smithers, and I’m a writer and editor based in Melbourne, Australia.
I started this blog during the course of my Master of Publishing and Communications at The University of Melbourne, as a way of exploring past and present insights into the publishing industry.
On Writing in the Margins I’ll be looking at how concepts like writing, publishing and authorship have changed throughout history, as well as some of the trends that are shaping the future of publishing.
In keeping with this idea, Writing in the Margins will also serve as a commentary – a sort of time capsule – of my time training at The University of Melbourne. So, from time to time, I’ll also be posting recommendations, reviews, thoughts, articles and tips about writing and editing.
I currently work for Executive Media, a niche B2B magazine publisher in Melbourne, where I write, commission, copyedit and proofread for a number of different magazines. You can check us out here.
In my spare time I love hiking, writing, drawing and of course – rearranging the bookshelf.
